Migrating ng-file-upload to modern Angular
ng-file-upload provided the ngf-select and ngf-drop directives plus an Upload service with progress and validation.
What replaces it
| Option | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| Native input + HttpClient | Enough for most cases: reportProgress gives upload progress events. |
| ngx-file-drop | When you need a drag-and-drop zone; check its release activity before adopting it. |
| Uppy or tus client | For resumable or very large uploads. |
How to migrate it
- List the validations in use (size, type, dimensions) and move them to a validator function.
- Build one upload component with progress, cancel and error states.
- Send the file with FormData through HttpClient with reportProgress and observe events.
Watch out. Check how the backend expects the multipart field names. ng-file-upload had its own defaults, and a mismatch only shows up as a failed upload.
Other libraries
- satellizer / angular-jwt
- ngStorage / angular-local-storage
- angular-formly
- ui-sortable / ng-sortable / dragula
