Migrating ngStorage / angular-local-storage to modern Angular

ngStorage exposed $localStorage and $sessionStorage as objects that synced automatically through the digest cycle.

What replaces it

OptionWhen to choose it
A small typed StorageServiceA few lines wrapping localStorage, with signals for reactive values.
ngx-webstorageWhen you want a ready-made service with decorators.
IndexedDB wrapper (idb, Dexie)When you store more than small settings.

How to migrate it

  1. Find every key the app reads and writes, and give each one a type.
  2. Write a StorageService with get, set and remove, and use it from both frameworks.
  3. Remove the code that relied on automatic syncing; write explicitly when the value changes.

Watch out. Keep the same storage keys and JSON format during the hybrid phase. Legacy and new screens read the same data, and users keep their saved preferences.
