Migrating satellizer / angular-jwt to modern Angular
satellizer handled social and OAuth logins in AngularJS; angular-jwt attached tokens to $http requests and decoded them.
What replaces it
| Option | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| angular-oauth2-oidc / angular-auth-oidc-client | Standards-based OAuth 2 and OpenID Connect with any provider. |
| Provider SDK (Auth0, MSAL, Okta, Cognito) | When you use that provider and want its supported library. |
| Your own AuthService + interceptor | For a simple token-based API. |
How to migrate it
- Write the new AuthService first and make it the single owner of the session.
- Downgrade it so the legacy app reads the token from the same place.
- Replace the legacy interceptor and login screen last, once every request uses the shared service.
Watch out. Authentication must be shared by both frameworks from day one. Two sources of truth for the session cause login loops that are very hard to debug.
