Migrating Restangular to modern Angular

Restangular wrapped $http with a chainable API for REST resources (one, all, getList, customPOST).

What replaces it

OptionWhen to choose it
HttpClient with typed servicesThe standard: one small service per resource, fully typed.
HttpClient + httpResourceFor read-heavy screens that fit a signal-based resource.
Generated client (OpenAPI)When the backend publishes an OpenAPI spec.

How to migrate it

  1. List the endpoints used through Restangular; the chain syntax hides how many there are.
  2. Write one typed service per resource with explicit methods; move global config (base URL, headers, error handling) to interceptors.
  3. Downgrade the new services so legacy screens can drop Restangular before they are migrated.

Watch out. Restangular returns enhanced objects with methods like save and remove. Search for those calls on returned objects; they are easy to miss.
