Migrating Kendo UI for jQuery (AngularJS directives) to modern Angular
Kendo UI's AngularJS integration exposed its jQuery widgets (grid, scheduler, charts, editors) as kendo- directives. The widgets depend on jQuery.
What replaces it
| Option | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| Kendo UI for Angular | Native Angular components from the same vendor; closest look and features. |
| AG Grid + Angular Material | When the grid is what you really use and you want to drop the suite license. |
| PrimeNG | An open-source suite with a comparable catalog. |
How to migrate it
- Inventory the widgets in use; the grid usually accounts for most of the effort.
- Decide per widget: native Kendo for Angular, or another library.
- Migrate widget configuration from k-options objects to component inputs and templates, screen by screen.
Watch out. Kendo UI for Angular is a different product from the jQuery suite, not an upgrade of it. Data source configuration, templates and events all change, so estimate it as a rewrite of those screens.
